Freed from trade quotas

News - Time Europe

European and American clothing and textile companies knew they would be in for some hard knocks this year following the expiration on Jan. 1 of a decades-old quota system that limited exports from low-cost producers like China and India.

A Chinese firm has already stated it wanted to bring 10 million bras, wholesaling for just 50 cents a dozen to Italy. Italians buy about 40 million bras a year, so the 10 million represents three months of total Italian sales.

Swimming in black lacy underwear

News – The Times, Single in the city.

Dismay turned to irritation as she pranced out of the changing rooms into the Jacuzzi in her black lacy underwear, claiming to have left her swimming kit at home. Yeah right. I buried my head in the water to escape the flirt routine and morphed into some Fanny Durack, but flailing legs and groping hands at the other end of the pool only steamed my goggles and increased my blood pressure.

Girlie Logic

* My bank balance is in the red and I buy a fabulous new set of underwear to make myself feel better.

* I buy a very expensive pair of knickers for a hot date, which I can’t afford; well you have to invest in your future.

* If the lingerie is £200 and I wear it five times then it only really cost £40.

Belle De Jour

Belle De Jour The Intimate Adventures of a London Call Girl is not for the faint hearted and if you think you are about to read a diary such as Anne Frank’s you are wildly mistaken. This book has more similarities to the risky Nancy Friday books. ‘Intimate’ in the title is a clue to how much information is descried of the various rendezvous.

Knickers today: butterfly-printed with shocking pink lace round the leg. This is a snippet of a diary entry from Belle De Jour. Underwear is mentioned throughout the book in many forms. The book is well worth a read although this is not a coffee book to be left around for anyone to flick through.

Naughty knicker tycoon

News – The Age, Australia

The man who lured smalls out of the bottom drawer and into mainstream fashion is in Melbourne this week. Lara Zamiatin meets a legend of lingerie. Joe Corre and his wife and business partner, Serena Rees, opened a knicker shop called Agent Provocateur.

According to Corre, a decade ago the British lingerie landscape was a desert. "The average knicker drawer in the UK used to be very boring. It had maybe one little thing that was sexy, probably given to the woman on her hen night, and then it was basically white cotton underwear gone grey in the wash.

"Today, it's completely different. Every major high street retailer sells designer lingerie. Ten years ago that wasn't the case. That's what we changed. We're kind of responsible for taking lingerie and putting it on the fashion map."

Men in panties

UNderwear drawer - personal stories and thoughts.

In this forum today I found a post from a wife who knows her husband likes to wear womens panties. A reply underneath explains to the worried wife that there are many men who wear panties.

Have missed something, do men really like wearing girls panties, do they wear the frilly kind or the boy short style? Would he borrow his wife’s underwear from her drawer and parade around the house?

Any man I know who found their mate on a regular basis wore women’s panties would have the p*ss taken out of them so badly that they wouldn’t want to hear the word panties let alone wear them again. Hadn't his friends noticed a little bit of black lace hanging over his trousers at some point if it was a black lace day?

I like to think I am open minded, I have been with a man and for a giggle he did try on women’s underwear but it was at the right time and setting. If the next day he asked to borrow some panties he would have received a strange look, properly one of horror. For me a man wearing panties is a definite turn off and not a turn on no mater how happy it made him.

Although shopping for underwear would be interesting as you could buy two pairs of the same underwear in different sizes if he varied from your size. A scary thought so I shall stop now!

Sensible black or sexy daring knickers?

The Underwear Drawer - personal stories

This is the current dilemma for my Nan’s funeral tomorrow. I had the fortune of knowing my Nan Irene well and thanks to my friend O a few Christmas ago I got to know my Nan a whole lot better.

After a few hours drinking Martini my friend O decided it was time to discuss her sex life, but not in front of my Nan surely this was an unwritten rule. However not on this occasion the stories fell from her lips so quickly I was unable to escort her out. The tone of the conversation got a little lighter my Nan started discussing her early years and boyfriends. It was a great conversation and then I realised that all people have been teenagers at some point with their own mischievous teenage years.

With this in mind and knowing my Nan had a lively side too I have decided to keep her youthfulness alive. Tomorrow at her funeral under my black suit I shall be wearing my hot pink sheer knickers and black lace trim. It can be our secret and I shall of course have a toast to my Nan with a drink of Martini in hand.

Don’t forget your rabbit rampant..

The Underwear Drawer - personal stories

A friend M was moving house recently as she was finally moving into her boyfriends place after months of them both paying rent and her virtually living there anyway. She had secured a tenant for her flat and everything was looking great.

After packing most of her flat but leaving the furniture as it was rented partly furnished we waved her off. Smiling at the thought of meeting up again soon. The shock came with how soon we would meet again and the laughter came with the phone call. The conversation went a little something like this:

M: Are you going to be near my flat this morning, or could you go in and pick something up as I have left something there in the drawer?
Me: I don’t think I will be around in the morning, sorry was it something important as I know your new tenant is due to move in within a few hours?
M: I have left erm.. my knickers in a drawer in the bedroom.
Me: Hope they are sexy knickers as don’t want him finding your BIG comfortable apple catchers.
M: Oh they are very sexy as they are accompanied by my Rampant Rabbit.

Laughing now finally understood why she was so desperate for me to get there before he arrived. It was a lucky escape with the mission accomplished and the message of the story is better to forget your toothbrush than your Rampant Rabbit.

Mine, all mine!

Celebrity Americans were apparently really embarrassed by the press coverage of their wanton grabbiness at Sundance's swag chateaux earlier this year. And they've learned their lesson.

They didn't turn down the luxe bag at Saturday's Independent Spirit Awards. They just refused to let themselves be photographed foraging for freebies, according to the New York Daily News. Lets be honest who wouldn’t with Greg Kinnear and Dennis Quaid both pocketing about $33,000 worth of Chantelle lingerie, Ray-Ban sunglasses, Banana Republic blazers and a silver Vespa.
