Flower photo's merged with beautiful lingerie

The delicate petals of the peony at Wisley Gardens reminded me of ruffles, floating lace and satin ribbons. I decided to combine underwear photos I had taken and expose these with flower photos which reflected the lingerie to the point the images merged perfectly or a contrast where only on areas of light can the lace detail of the underwear garment can be seen.

Lingerier thoughts....

Shop
As though no one is watching you (this doesn’t mean shoplift)

Love
Your lingerie and care for it regularly

Sing
While you wear it as you have never looked so great

Live
As every moment was your last

I am Pants HQ Heaven

I am ecstatic. Have I died and gone to heaven? I wonder when I see the sign of a favourite lingerie store has got a 30% sale on. The adrenalin rushes as I see the shop door; my heart is in my mouth as I search the shop for the ultimate pieces of beautiful, exquisite and lavish lingerie. It’s irrelevant if the piece matches anything else, fits properly or it’s not my normal style; this is a paradise, an Aladdin’s cave of the best goodies which is better than gold, a moment of pure euphoria. A underwear shop on the first day of a sale!

I visited Debenhams recently for there Blue Cross sale of luscious underwear and came out with many bags not to mention to the extra delight I found at the till when items were lower than there marked down price.

I also visited Figleaves Sale with there preview newsletter of 20% off swimwear.... since it was a sneak peak I couldn't resist...

Tony Hart's feedback on my knickers…

Meeting Tony Hart and showing him my red and white knickers on canvas in the Five by Five bar downstairs. Seeing he was a little older I thought I was going to have an interesting time explaining why I had chosen the subject of knickers but actually his response surprised me. The response was ‘you’re a little naughty’ he laughed, smiled and said its ‘all good fun’.

Not quiet what I was expecting as feedback from the open gallery on meeting the TV legend from my childhood but he is right it is all good fun and as far as comments on knickers go, I don’t actually think he was to far off the mark but of cause I will claim to be shocked as if little me would be naughty! ;o)

I will upload the photo later but here is the artwork

The beginning... capturing lingerie utopia

While daydreaming about browsing boutiques selecting the perfect item of lingerie, or actually going on a shopping trip to purchase underwear I experience an elevated state of mind. In order to create my personal utopia and almost dream like vision I decided to start with a playful afternoon in the garden somewhere which gives sanctuary and can offer a sense of freedom. Trying to capture these elusive emotions was a challenge but hopefully these offer glimpses into the playful, ofen fun world of a lingerieholic.

Mutande of Barga (Knickers of Barga, Italy)

I am not alone exploring underwear in art, the relationship we have to the garment closet to our skin. Keane is an artist who is undertaking a residency which to date has lasted amazing twelve years in Barga Italy. The aim is to capture a community, which is a massive undertaking as its about leisure, about who governs and who is governed, about property and its rights, citizenship and its responsibilities; in short, it is about the explicit, formal contract that binds individuals into a group, a society. A community in this sense is also and often more powerfully about the implicit contracts that bind us, the unspoken accords. It is about the Mutande of Barga. (Mutade translates to pants or knickers)

There are few artefacts of our material culture which say more about us, more about our bodies, stripped to their last shield against the naked truth of age and physical decline, more about our most intimate acts and fantasies.
Mutande in Barga are everywhere shouting secrets from clotheslines and drying racks strung in full sight on nearly every home, there is a tight contract that says, in effect, I can hang my secrets out before your windows, let them take the air and sun, because you know me and I trust you not to look.

The work of the artist Keane is beautiful, capturing a tight community with principles and respect.

Living for the weekend...

As the Dolly Parton song lyrics say

Workin' 9 to 5
What a way to make a livin'

The underwear collage represents the black and white days, Monday to Friday and the bright colourful days of the weekend spent with friends and family.
