India eases on flag use, but no underwear

News - Webindia123, India

India has softened its law governing how and where the national tri-color flag can be printed or displayed, but putting the flag on underwear remains taboo.

Before the latest revision, under the Prevention of Insults to National Honors Act, only senior government leaders and state institutions were allowed to fly the flag on their premises. Ordinary citizens were allowed to fly flags or wear tricolor badges only on Republic Day, Independence Day and Mahatma Gandhi's birthday, The Times of London said.
